A few months ago, a girlfriend of mine said that she wanted to have her bachelorette in Miami. Flash forward to today and we are leaving in 3 days . Now with limited time and space, I fell into a packing frenzy. Anyone can throw a bunch of clothes into a suitcase and call it 'packing'. But I like to be truly prepared for a trip - without hauling my whole wardrobe with me. Here are some tips on how I narrowed down my closet below.
1. Plan Ahead
How long are you gone for?
What will you be doing when you reach your destination?
It is much easier to get dressed when you pre plan your outfits. It gives you more time to enjoy your getaway when you are not wasting valuable time trying to figure what to wear each day. For me, I know I will be hitting the beach during the day and I'll be out with the girls at night so I made sure to bring more than one swimsuit and cover ups so I won't need to buy any while I'm there.
2. Can I wear this more than once?
Can your pieces be used as double duty? Some of my cover-ups can double as dresses by adding a belt. A button down dress shirt can do same. Packing pieces that can be used multiple times reduces the amount if clothes you have to bring.
3. Maximize the space in your suitcase.
I have gotten into the habit of putting entire outfits into Ziploc bags. It keeps the inside of my luggage nice and tidy which helps me maximize space. For items that I can't squeeze into a bag, I roll them to prevent wrinkles. I also put socks and undergarments in last. Those items can be tucked into small spaces or stuffed into shoes to help keep their shape.
4. Lastly, I bring some insurance.
I pack one or two more items that I might need in case I change in mind. In this case, I'll be packing a compactable bag because I figure we will find time to shop knowing how me and the girls are. It's always best to be prepared!
